Welcome to our 4th “on air” monthly club “BARC: W5BCS” meeting!

Field Day is our biggest priority for the meeting.

Field Day:
- Setup will start at 8am.
- Texas .gov guidelines for meetings:
- 65 years or older, think you may have a significant risk for complications, please consider participating from home.
- If you have symptoms of being ill please stay home.
- Encourage you to bring your own face covering.
- Pavilion, indoor space and bathroom will be available for the weekend.

We will have a VE Test session under the pavilion @ 2pm on Saturday.

Stations:
- 2 HF Stations maybe 3 with the GOTA “Get On The Air” station provided by Texas A&M University Amateur Radio Club (W5AC)
- Ron Hambric (N5SBN) Will be providing a solar portable Winlink station.

2 Antenna Trailers

Start radio ops at 2pm local time.

ARRL one time only rule accommodations:
- If you want to be on the air from home as a Class D station, you can contact other stations and make points for the club.
- You may operate from home with your call/privileges, log / enter your contacts into the webpage and contribute to the club’s Field Day points.
- If you want to be on the air from home as a Class D station, you can contact other stations and make points for the club.

Midtown Park:
- I have a good contact at the City of Bryan and will be drafting a letter for board approval soon.
- If you are interested in helping with this project, please let me or one of the officers know.

ARRL Kids Day! Today is ARRL Kids Day, so tune around and talk to some young people on the air to help foster some interest and excitement in our hobby.

Question: Can we use club call and club privileges for Field Day or your own privileges? Do we log as club? Phil Gates (N5ZKF): If you are at your station, use your call and your privileges, then on the webpage you can assign your contacts to the club.

- Texas A&M University Amateur Radio Club (W5AC) will be providing and operating the GOTA station this year.
- Start selling shirts available and possibly selling at field day

Phil Gates (N5ZKF): Wont be a club organized or monitored “Swap Meet” but you can bring things to set out and sell. You’ll be responsible for monitoring whatever you bring.

- Thank the membership for the offerings to help out with club functions. It is volunteerism that makes the club run and I really appreciate it.

- Just received a nano vna as a father’s day gift. Anyone have any experience with these?
Phil Gates (N5ZKF): Paul Bilke and I have one, I have used it a few times and its a great piece of equipment. I encourage you to spend some time in front of YouTube as there are some really good reviews and details about it.

VE Test Session
- Next test session will be at Field Day:
- 2pm this Saturday (06-27-2020) under the pavilion.
July Meeting
- As of now, the meeting will be on July 18, 2020 at 9:30am and unless our current situation changes, will be held “On Air” in a NET style meeting on the 146.680 repeater. Please check the website and/or our Tuesday evening NETs @ 8 PM local time for the most current information regarding our meetings.
