Favorite Christmas memory:
- My dad wanted to get radio operator plates for my car
- The plates were free, but the law said I needed a radio in the car
- He offered to get me an Icom ID-5100A!

Holiday-adjacent memory:
- Last Winter Field Day, I got my technician license!
- Found the exam listed on the ARRL website, took the test, and joined the club!
- It’s been a great year!

Not sure when exactly this was, but long ago my brother and I would get RadioShack project boxes
- X-Y grid of holes and circuit components for soldering
- Assembled kits for various radio receivers, metal detectors, etc.

Next week is Christmas Eve, and the week after is New Year’s Eve
- In the past, we’ve just had “fireside chats” for anyone who wants to get on the air in the absence of anything “official”
- (Note: nets are never required, but always encouraged.)
