Information Exchange
Robert Carter (NC5R)
- Came home to the following problem:
- In the last few days, I started getting a S9+ noise floor across entire band
- Usually it’s pretty quiet, but this has shut down all operations on 80 m
- Seems to be neighborhood-wide
- Noise has a “mechanical” sound to it
- KZ5M:
- Any other bands? 40 m, 20 m, maybe even 2 m
- use a directional antenna
- WB5CKO:
- include that you’re a licensed emergency communications station (e.g., ARES)
- they’re required by law to check it out
- N5ZKF:
- have dealt with BTU before
- ask to have engineer call you back
