- What is the Silent Key tradition of Last Call?
- N5ZKF:
- before we go through the net agenda, we sometimes do a “last call”
- old memorial tradition going back many years through many organizations (even outside of ham radio)
- whenever a ham radio operator passes away, we call out to them one last time to honor them
- call their call sign three times
- I usually find out about them from obituaries in the newspaper

- This is now a 30-hour event; we might stick with a 24-hour event

- Franklin fire station on Glass St
- Will do a portable copper tube J-pole antenna build
Echolink and Nets

- Echolink appears to be online and reaching the repeater again!
- Paul seems to have fixed the issue
- N5SBN: be sure to pause for a few seconds between the conversation to allow for transmission delay
- We have a question for discussion during the net to spark discussion

Emergency Preparedness

- encourage everyone to get involved with either ARES or RACES
- Emergency communications serves as a “backbone” of the hobby
- N5ZKF: there is also more to the service definition
- K5DKB: practice and preparedness keeps skills fresh for when emergency does come
- N5SBN: Winlink is the preferred official means of communication in an emergency
- Radio eqpipment is particularly EM-sensitive
