RACES

• Coordinator promoted to District Chief of this area
• Personnel have moved into the RELLIS facility
• Look forward to have radio equipment fully operational
  • Maybe another month or two
• 66,000 sq ft warehouse
  • Filled with cots, blankets, water, supplies
• 32,000 sq ft office / dorm space
  • training rooms, conference rooms, etc.
• Planning to build five more across the state
• Would like to host W5BCS meeting out there one Saturday
  • More to follow
• Approval for TDEM state headquarters to be built on East side of Austin Airport
• KI5CES: good to put together a disaster preparedness kit
  • non-perishable food, water, fuel source, etc.
  • GMRS license covers the entire family

W5AC Update

Phil Gates (N5ZKF)

• They’ve been doing a lot of fox hunts lately
  • 2 or 3 a week
• hiding on campus
• Announced via email: frequency, what to expect, bounds of search area
• mostly silent: 15 seconds of transmit every 3 minutes
• KI5FIZ: W5AC has been invited to Winter Field Day, but have not heard back
