ARES Update

Mike Wisby (KA5HIA)

• CEOC visit each Friday 09:30
  • Keeping good relationships with cities, university, and county personnel
• Vet School Response Team
  • FEMA changed rules for evacuation: pets are now part of evacuation
  • Activated by TDEM, and will help look after evacuated pets
  • Also do equine and large animal
  • As ARES / ham radio folks, we helped them set up and learn to use their communications equipment (handheld and mobile)
    • Invited to Winter Field Day
    • One of vet techs there went to school with Samuel Morse’s great-great-grandson

• We’re supposed to present candidates in November so everyone knows who will be on the ballot
• 4 positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer
  • Duties described in Constitution and By-Laws
  • Occasional extra meetings (committee/planning, officer meeting, club meeting)
  • Takes some time, but not overwhelming
