Radio Capabilities and Limitations
Jim Laird (KF5YY)
Question: I have a radio that works on both the ham bands and CB band. Can I legally operate on CB frequencies?
- If it’s type-certified for operation on that band, then it can be used there
- limitations on power and mode operations: 4 W, AM only
- don’t use ham callsign
- similar case: can’t use Baofeng to transmit on GMRS frequencies, even though the radio will allow you to do so.
